A late Neolithic mass grave in Poland contained remains of 15 individuals. What excited the archaeologists the most is that the deceased were relatives and the one who buried these men buried them with care.
The archaeologists concluded that all 15 skeletons of these individuals showed that they were relatives. All of them met a bloody demise with fatal blow to the head. They found out this mass grave during a sewage construction near the town Koszyce in southern Poland.
The one burying the deceased knew them very well
Someone who buried these deceased must know them very well. Because position of each individual in the mass grave was not random. The kids rest next to their parents, brothers next to each other, and the oldest man in the center of the grave. The researching result showed that these men were from an extended family. There were four nuclear families in the mass grave and all of them were connected, for example, being cousins.
This mass grave in Poland showed signs of violence and it was unique as well. Someone burying these men dedicated many gifts to this family. The globular-shaped pots suggested that these people were from the Globular Amphora Culture. A lot of effort were for this mass grave in Poland.
The scholars also theorized that some relatives came to the house of the deceased only to find out the brutal mass murder. Then they decided to bury the deceased in the most respectful way.
Although the identity of the executor(s) forever remains a mystery, we know the violence of the people at that time. The society must be in turmoil because of territorial clashes. The deceased could have been the victims who were unable to defend themselves in the face of death. The executors dealt deadly blows right to their heads simply ending their life.
